Alumni News: Alex Strada, Class of 2006, Advancing Socially Engaged Art and Education

Alex Strada ’06 is making an impact as a socially engaged artist and educator. She currently serves as the Public Artist in Residence with NYC’s Department of Homeless Services and Department of Cultural Affairs, where she is creating a collaborative public art project while expanding art initiatives in shelters throughout the city. Alex is also a Fellow in Civic Engagement at Pratt University, leading courses that explore social practice as an art form.

Alex’s recent project, Proposal for a 28th Amendment? Is it Possible to Amend an Unequal System? critically examines the US Constitution. The exhibition has been displayed at several institutions including the Queens Museum and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Recognized with numerous grants and awards, Alex’s work has been featured in many publications, including The New Yorker, The New York Times, and NPR. Learn more here.
